It's Kinitime!

I've got 4 hot hot hot new releases tonight...only available at CKS Designs @ The Deck!

So...any SL Designer will tell you that swimsuits (along with lingerie) are among the most frustrating pieces of clothing to make in SL. It might seem counterintuitive...after all they are tiny and thus shouldn't require much work, right? Wrong. They are evil little things that like to taunt you relentlessly with this little piece here...that little piece there...that still isn't. quite. right. I designed clothing for over a year in SL before I finally bit the bullet and made a serious go of making some swimwear...and every summer since, I've tackled them again...always starting from the ground up...always trying to improve on my last efforts. It's a fun challenge...and I'm happy to say that (after starting in June...and getting derailed by rw over and over) this year's are finally finished YAYYY!!!!

This year's are a varied bunch of 4 bikinis...and w/o any further yakkity yakking from me....let's get to them! I'm gonna go light on the piccies so you don't have to scroll thru a bunch to see 'em all...;)

'Sparklebum' is a sexy little string bikini with sequin accents and sculpted ties. It's a little glitz & glam and just the sort of thing for the girl who likes to be the center of attention. 8 sparkly colors are available. ;)




'Going Commando' is a skimpy little number all full of camoflauge-y & ruffly goodness...with sculpted ties & some fun color combos! I liked the combination of camo & ruffles...sort of girly yet not. Without doubt the least skin coverage of the 4...in 6 color combos:




The 'Dotty Bikini' (the last one made and prolly the least creatively named :P) is a cute bra-top style with criss cross straps in the back. Both top & bottom are accented with little gold bows...it's a very fun & girlie style that comes in 10 bright colors:




Andddd last but certainly not least is 'First Mate'...a nautical inspired bikini with prim ties & a teenie little cheerleader-style skirt. In 3 colors...this one is great for mixing & matching!

Sooooo I have a couple of collections and some hot kinis to offer up today!!

First up the kinis!
The Safari Bikini is made to complement the Summer Safari collection. It's a sexy-but-not-too-skimpy little linen bikini that comes with a matching sarong. I wanted to do a basic sort of tie-side bottom/triangle top...but I think the textures really make this one pop. It's available in 5 colors, $L210 single/$L525 set...here's a pic of the khaki one! ;)


I love sailor/nautical-style clothing...and I've wanted to do a swimsuit in that style for a while...hence the Sailor Bikini. This one ended up being my favorite of the bunch...with a cute little sailor collar and a very sort of retro look to it. She comes in three colors, $L165 single/$L265 pack...all of which are shown below!


Also made to complement a collection (Surfer Girl)...is the Surfer Girl Bikini. My plan with the swimsuits this season was to make some varied styles...and I really wanted something with a boyshort-style bottom. After playing around with a hibiscus print...I thought a sort of retro-surfer style would be nice...and I loved the print so much I ended up building an entire collection around it! The Surfer Girl Bikinis come in 11 colors, priced at $L165 single/$L825 pack. The blue is shown below!!


Last up is the Life Guard Bikini. This one's the skimpiest of the lot...it's designed for the girl who wants to show off that toned, tanned bod on the beach. Available in 4 colors, $L115 single/$L250 pack...all colors are shown below!


So...the Summer Safari collection is something I've been actually batting around for months...first in my head...and then finally I got around to putting it 'on paper' or...putting it to pixels...or...whatever...and then I decided I wanted a bikini to go with. :P

It features 6 pieces (Jacket, Shorts, Pants, Skirt, Halter, & Sheath Dress) in 5 colors. The pieces make for great mixing and matching...nice, summery wardrobe basics that should stretch your inventory nicely. Also...since the fabrics are matched to those in the Safari Bikini...those pieces will also coordinate nicely!! The pieces are available individually and in sets at various prices...grouped by color or type of piece. I'm selling it in the same way I did the Amarantine collection last fall...so you can get one piece in a single color...one piece in all colors...all pieces in one color...or just go for the whole Kit & Kaboodle. Thanks to Dot Lane for suggesting a dress...I think it made a great addition to the collection! I'm including a set of pics to give you some detail on each piece!!







And...the collection that was inspired by the bikini...as opposed to the other way round...the Surfer Girl Collection. It's larger than the Safari Collection...with 7 pieces (Hoodie, Baseball Tee, Shorts, Skirt, Capris, Halter, & Dress) plus some matching bangles...in 11 colors, at various prices...also available in singles, piece packs, and color packs. Like the Safari Collection...the bikini pieces will also coordinate with the collection pieces perfectly! Much more casual than the Safari collection, the pieces are sexy, skin-baring, & sporty...perfect for hot days & warm nights on the beach! Summerrrtimeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Summer's less than a month away!!! How wonderful it is not to be waking up to snow & brrrrrr every day...and to not have to bundle up in 83 layers of clothing just to go out the door!!! :P

When I first started designing...(which was just about this time last year)...I didn't really think in terms of seasons or particular articles of clothing...I just sorta randomly worked on ideas that popped up for various reasons. I find as I have more experience (and ffs let's hope I'm better at what I do now than I was a year ago) I think more along the lines of seasons and particular types/styles of clothing. I find that lately I like to dabble in uncharted (for me) territory...try things I haven't yet tried...and the result is that I bounce around a good bit with what I make. I'm not sure if that's good or bad...but hopefully it's at least not boring. :P

So with all that said...we come to today's new realeases. (OK OK..technically they're last night's...I was just too tired & lazy to blog! :P) Swimwear was one area of clothing I'd never tried my hand at...and my recent foray in to lingerie + impending summer + the lure of something new had me thinking about it and wanting to give it a go. Soooo I started thinking it over...and decided I wanted to make some really fun, cute, flirty & girlie swimwear in some preppy plaids & argyles...with sweet flexiprim bow accents...and I wanted something that (mostly) covered the bootay ffs...cos tho I have no problem with my avi displaying her bootay in swimwear...I sometimes get frustrated at the sheer number of swimsuits in my inv that simply don't cover it enough for my taste. o.O

Andddd here's what popped out. Addison (my personal fave), Bitsy, Molly, & Peyton. Of course I gave them preppy names to go with their preppy styles...these are like those spoiled little rich girls who have nothing better to do than play at the beach alll summer long...taunting the boys and showing off their tans. Each has her own unique style...as you can clearly see:


Addison: The Sophisticate. She enjoys spending her beach time on the sand...reading...building castles...soaking up the sun. Her quirky, somewhat aloof personality fascinates the boys...after all...who doesn't like a challenge?!


Bitsy: The Little Sister. She's sweet & social but a little bit shy & innocent. She loves hanging out at the beach...flirting with her brother's friends...and they're noting she doesn't seem so young anymore.


Molly: The Flirt. She comes to the beach to see and be seen...she's fun, playful, & full of energy...and every boy within a half mile radius seems drawn to her magnetic personality.



Peyton: The Tomboy. She enjoys the rough & tumble fun the beach has to offer...volleyball, football, swimming, surfing...you name it...she's game to try it. She can definitely keep up with the boys...and they definitely love it! ;)
